This listing is for 6 weeks of Fine Art Classes by Heather Kent, located in Newberg, Oregon, about 45 minutes outside Portland. These classes are for 3rd-9th grade kids who love art and are interested in learning techniques that will help them grow their artistic skills. I will apply my teaching experience, personal art education, and years as a professional artist to bring a well rounded fine art education to these kids. We may cover a variety of mediums but expect the majority of the lessons to center around drawing and watercolor painting.
Each week we focus on a project that I have intentionally chosen for the students. I expect that the projects will vary in the level of excitement for each kid, but they will all strengthen important foundational fine art skills as the students work through them. It might sound counterintuitive, but I believe that assigned art projects with clear and specific expectations can often evoke and encourage even more creativity than those that are open-ended. These carefully curated projects are designed to grow the students’ artistic abilities as well as their confidence.
Classes are 90 minutes and are currently offered in 6 week sessions for $200 + $20 supply fee. Supply fee (non-refundable) is due at time of sign up, and the remainder of the payment is due by the first day of class. Cash, Check or Venmo (@HeatherKentArt) is accepted. If you purchase the class through my website, an additional 5% will be added to cover the processing fees. I will provide a receipt on the 2nd day of class. Each 6 week session is independent from the next with no obligation to continue, but current students get priority re-enrollment if they do choose to continue the art classes. Supply fee for returning students is $10.

Please note: There is no skill level requirement for the class, only the ability to follow directions, and a strong desire to grow in their fine art knowledge and techniques. Out of respect to the other children in the class, if I find a student to be disinterested to the point of disruption, I reserve the right to dismiss the child from the sessions and will refund the fee at a prorated amount.
